Hi! I'm June

I'm a mutidisciplinary designer with a background in history and yes, I love timelines and years, but more importantly I love stories.

Today I'm initiating a journey in UX/UI design and interactive storytelling,
aiming to create human-centered designs with a narrative perspective.
This is the story of how I came to where I am now and what I want to do up next.

my timeline

my story

Since I have notion of memory, I have always been fascinated by the stories I saw in videogames and movies. Every night, before going to bed I would imagine my own stories, unraveling in-front of me in the darkness of the night. Needless to say, I developed a slight insomnia since a very young age.

My attraction to stories led me to my studies in History. I've been always fascinated by how we can explain who we are as a society through understanding past narratives and processes.

As a teenager, I had the experience to work as a Literacy teacher in rural areas in Mexico, and since I've been a Humanist-nerd attracted to work in educational and cultural projects.

Besides my Bachelor in History, I also I did courses in editorial design, communication science, and community management because I'm interested in finding diverse tools to create and communicate cultural content.

This motivation, in hand with my personal interest in arts and design, led me in 2020 to study the interdisciplinary program of Open Design in Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. This Master opened up my mind to new possibilities, helped me acquire new design skills and develop my team-working skills to produce an installation for an exhibition in Humboldt forum.

This is how I became interested in digital humanities, understanding design and technology as a way to bring together disciplines from science, humanities and art.

In October 2022 I had one of the most exciting experiences in my life: to do an intensive Bootcamp in UX/ UI design. I was fascinated to discover design thinking as a proved method to create solutions for specific wicked (and not so wicked) problems.

For me UX/UI design combines everything I've been looking for: a human interest towards design, visual communication and digital solutions.

my human traits

what's next?

I want to become a multidisciplinary UX/UI designer, offering not only excellent technical and graphic skills, but also human sensitivity and engaging storytelling.

Currently I am writing my Master's thesis project about narrative design and interactive storytelling. My endevour is to study this new form of storytelling while questioning how will it contribute to the future of the humanities and historiography, pivoting important issues of todays desinformation and memory mediatization/appropiation.

My professional goal is to introduce myself in the tech industry to make use of all my abalities and learn new ones.
In the mean time I'm constantly learning and love to acquire new software tools to develop any creative challenge that comes in my way.

music

Aside from being a humanist nerd and a designer, I'm also a pianist and composer.
The piano has been my therapy, a way to talk with myself and get in contact with my deepest emotions and dreams.
I love to compose and to make piano arrangements of my favorite videogame, pop and rock songs.
